Where We’ve Wandered

We were in Mission beach about five months into dating (and maybe a few IPAs deep) when Sam popped the question … ok not that question – but rather “do you want to move to Thailand?” Mariya’s immediate response was “how drunk are you?” Clearly no decisions were made that night. However, the topic was revisited the next day and seemed significantly more appealing than returning to Denver, CO, in the winter. Sam’s lease in Denver wasn’t up until March, so we opted to stay stateside until then, which gave us about three months to get our shit together. 

Moving to Thailand started the conversation, but ultimately we decided to spend three months there and then continue to travel the world. After Thailand, we spent time in Indonesia, which didn’t go quite as smoothly as we hoped. We only stayed two months out of our six month visas if you get our drift. We did gain our dive obsession, though. Since then, we’ve traveled to 16 different countries and have had countless mishaps along the way.
